How to Heal the Underlying Biological Issues Associated with Autism - Tracy Slepcevic
Video edited on Kapwing
Show Notes
Modern medicine considers Autism to be an “incurable diagnosis,” but Warrior Mom challenges this claim, sharing one mother’s journey to healing her son. For any parent who has heard the chilling words "your child has autism," Tracy Slepcevic offers hope, inspiration, and advice to help you navigate the system, evaluate different treatment options, and heal your child’s underlying conditions
.
After her son Noah had a severe regression after meeting all his milestones, Tracy spent years trying to figure out what was wrong with her little boy. Once given a diagnosis, doctors said Noah would never lead a fully functioning life, but Tracy knew this was not her son’s fate. Refusing to give up, Tracy read dozens of books, attended autism conferences, and spent countless hours researching how to heal her child. She was determined to turn her son around from what doctors called an “incurable diagnosis” so that Noah could live his best life possible. Over the years, Noah made great progress with biomedical intervention and lives a fully functional life today with a bright future ahead of him.
Warrior Mom is an inspiring story of hope and an indispensable guidebook for any parent desperate to hear the truth that autism is not a hopeless diagnosis and that many underlying conditions associated with autism are treatable.

I am proud to say that my son has made me the warrior mom that I am today he gave me purpose. He taught me things that I never imagined for actually possible. Seeing him grow and become who he is. He's 17 years old now getting ready to graduate from high school. He's really deep into film, and wants to be a film editor. And he's functioning because I took a different approach to medicine and a more natural, as I say, godlike approach to healing my son's body, and it really worked and the basics are really eating real food. You know, when you address the issues with a gut, the gut and the brain are connected via the nervous system. When you address those gut issues.
A lot of times, you know, kids will respond by getting more speech and more communication skills, more eye contact, I can tell you the stem cell therapy works great for his motor skills and you know, his physical coordination and abilities. Through the years it's definitely been a growth process.

For the parents that are struggling, we want you to know that we will love you until you can love yourself for your children, we pray and send power from our collective group.
As we come to understand our divine nature, we realize that there's no need to feel sorry for ourselves, be angry or feel lack, we come to understand that our feelings of limitation and separation are only in our minds. Through Self Realization, we expand our consciousness so that the challenges that perplex us today dissipate one by one until we're able to see and experience gratitude and beauty and everything just as it is. We have the power to create any kind of life we want for ourselves and our families. We do this by living in the naked present moment, one day at a time. So if you're ready to take back your life, or just continue your journey of awareness and consciousness, then let me welcome you to naked parent nation and the naked parent podcast. And like we do to get centered and give ourselves time and learn tools that help us through the challenging moments, we'll do a little meditation and breathing exercise.
So you want to get to whatever place is comfortable for you whether it's sitting up tall with your spine erect, or if you want to lay down you can do that as well. And just get comfortable and let your eyes slowly fall closed. As you know, we can't always control the mind. But we can encourage it to be more at ease to take a

Tracy 07:36
Thank you for having me.
Chad Ratliffe 07:37
Can you tell us a little bit about what your family makeup looks like what your world looks like when you're not on this show.
Tracy 07:45
So I do have a child on the spectrum. He's 17 years old. Now. Many years ago, around 2008 He was diagnosed with autism. And I decided back then to take a different approach to treatments and therapy for my son, as I had a very close friend who was a naturopathic doctor and he said, you know, kids are making great strides with biomedical intervention. Now I always say on my journey, I was always guided by angels. Every time that I felt like I was at my worst and I had no answers. God would send me an angel and it was all in its own perfect in divine time. Right? Nice. And one of those angels happened to be my naturopathic doctor. So I took his advice, I sucked those tears back up in my eyes and I truly got to work I started to do a lot of research on biomedical intervention, I found a functional medicine doctor who treated kids with autism at that time.
And just so you know, during this time, we lost everything, we lost our home, you know, the housing market collapsed, and we lost our business. And so I ended up bartering for treatments selling everything I could I even short sale buy home so I could take my kid to the Ukraine for stem cell therapy. And so when parents give me that excuse of Well, I just can't afford it. That really doesn't work for me because you know, you can be a powerful creator and you can create anything and you know, being a spiritual, you know, being having a temporary human experience. We can, you know, look at that glass half full or half empty. I am proud to say that my son has made me the warrior mom that I am today.
He gave me purpose. He taught me things that I never imagined for actually possible. Seeing him grow and become who he is. He's 17 years old now getting ready to graduate from high school. He's really deep into film and wants to be Be a film editor. And he's functioning because I took a different approach to medicine and a more natural, as I say, godlike approach to healing my son's body. And it really worked. And the basics are really eating real food. So, you know, when you address the issues with a gut, the gut and the brain are connected via the nervous system.
So when you address those gut issues, a lot of times, you know, kids will respond by getting more speech and more communication skills, more eye contact, I can tell you the stem cell therapy works great for his motor skills, and, you know, his physical coordination and abilities. So through the years, it's definitely been a growth process. And it's also, you know, been a battle, I've had to battle with schools, I've had to battle with individuals who, excuse me, but who are ignorant, and you know, they always have something to say, you know, as most kids are playing with the toys in the box, no was playing in the box, you know, so it's definitely been such a beautiful and humbling journey, even losing everything taught me so much taught me who's really, you know, there for me in my life, you know, you find out who your real friends are, when everything goes away, right? Just seeing no as progress is worth at all. And do I have my battles today? Definitely, he's a teenager, he doesn't want to listen to my diet recommendations anymore. And but I say I've given you the tools to be successful.
And I have to trust that once you're out there, and you're on your own, that you will learn and grow all on your own. And I'll be there to pick you up if you fall. But yet, I have to let go and let God is how I say it. In one of my chapters in my book, I named let go and let God because you know, at some point, you have to just, you know, release them and let them grow and and know that you're always there for them. But you know, beyond that,
Chad Ratliffe 12:22
that's beautiful. That's beautiful. I want to spend most of the time in the solution because it sounds like you have a wealth of knowledge. But I have to go back to the losing the house losing everything and getting diagnosis, you glazed over it. Like you heard it and you hit the ground running. Can you tell us? Can you take us back to that experience for you? Did it knock you sideways like it does everybody else? Or were you able just to just turn and go this direction.
Tracy 12:55
So what I really say is if you set a clear intention, you can accomplish anything, you know, I do have training in my background as to where you don't need physical stuff or money to accomplish a goal. If you focus on that physical stuff, or you know having, then that's where your focus is going to be my focus was on healing. Once my naturopathic doctor looked at me and said, there's a possibility that Noah can recover. I was like, okay, that's the direction that I get to go. There's my crossroads, I could wallow in my own self pity, woe is me, my kids got autism, or I could suck those tears back up and get to work in that is definitely what I did. So during this time, my husband fights big insurance. And he works on behalf of the property owners to assist them in getting paid. So you do that long enough, you know, big insurance is going to come after you and they did and you know, he wound up on the front page of the LA Times in a smear campaign that tanked our business.
And then eventually we could make our house payments. So we let we lost our home but we did short sell our home at the end so we can pull something out of it. And take note to the Ukraine for stem cell therapy but all this physical things I had in my life stuff, jewelry, you know, anything I can tell you, if I could pick it up and put it on eBay. That's where it went. I kept my wedding ring that was about it. clothes aren't worth anything. I had some ballgowns because they used to be a ballroom dancer that I sold for pennies on the dime. But it didn't matter. I didn't care. I'm not attached to earthly things. And so I was very focused. And then I saw this dramatic response in Noah just from starting gluten free, dairy free. And when I started that he started he was putting, you know one to two words together. So before that before I knew anything about the gut and the brain In connection and you know how that affects speech, I was working with Noah daily, I was showing him flashcards.
So he developed what we call echolalia. You know, as you, they can process the last word that came out of your mouth, and they'll repeat it. So no essay Read, read, you know. And so he developed echolalia. So he couldn't process what he was saying. But he was saying it. That was good, it was progress. As I implemented the diet, I saw him like, start to understand what he was saying. And put two and three words together. And then once I got to a functional medicine doctor, where she tested, I mean, oh my gosh, the battery of tests. For all the underlying conditions, she's like, you know, because Noah has been on antibiotics for ear infections most of his life. A lot of kids with autism are ear infection, babies, then it develops that yeast in the gut, because that's what antibiotics are made up. They're made of yeast. So it gets rid of the good and bad bacteria, replaces it with yeast, and that inhibits your body's ability to absorb proteins and nutrients and vitamins and all that good stuff. So had to get rid of the so unfortunately, we couldn't feed these, which is refined carbohydrates and sugars.
And so we just had to go back to a very old way of eating, if it was meat, vegetables, I did do low glycemic fruits, you know, like berries, I feel personally, especially being a health coach, that we still need our fruit, because we get a lot of antioxidants from our for. So it was very clean eating for at least a year. And I literally saw my kid just start to come to we did a little bit of chelation, he didn't respond very well. So I took them off. And then we did a mild like chelation where I just, you know, took the capsule and put it in this supplements along with all the other supplements, we did supplementation, we did hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which I bartered for, and went to a conference and I saw them there and I'm like, Hey, listen, my son really deserves this treatment. And I will do whatever it takes. Within reason, you let me know, I'll do your marketing for you. I had an Associates in marketing. And I'm like, I work your front desk, I'll even clean your toilets, I really don't care.
If you do this for me, I'll do whatever it takes to get my son this treatment. So in turn, I was able to barter they allowed me to do the marketing and the weekends and get no hyperbarics I love it. So and even my doctor at the time, she's like, you know, it just make payments as you can. And then we'll bill your insurance for whatever it is that we can. So she did that. I mean, these days, she doesn't pick insurance. You just You just find ways, you know, no matter what if you if you put an obstacle in your path, you're gonna run into that obstacle, the universe kind of works that way. But if you just clear the path for healing and growth, which is exactly what we got, then that's what you get
Chad Ratliffe 18:13
nice. I'm inspired. I know the listeners are inspired. Tell us about the book. When did you get the idea? Tell us about the journey and tell us what's inside.
Tracy 18:26
So for a very long time, I always wanted to write my story to assist other parents. I'm like, wow, I have a story. I mean, I literally, we lost everything. So I can't get you know, parents can't have that excuse, the story of like hope and inspiration. And that's I said, What did I need when Noah was diagnosed with autism? And really, first of all, you always need God's angels to direct you in that path. So believe it or not, if you truly asked for that assistance, somehow, someway. It might not look the way you want it to look. God will always answer. I wrote that story of inspiration. And I wanted to write it for a very long time now. And a couple of years ago, when COVID first started, I went on a meditation retreat. And I met this woman named Holly. And she had just wrote a best selling book. And we were talking and I said, wow, I've always wanted to write my story of how I healed my son.
And she's like, well, what's stopping you? And I'm like, Well, I guess that would be me. And I'm like, so I put limitations on myself over time, because I was never like the best student. You know, I was little add growing up. And I'm like, Can I really write a book? Am I smart enough? Sure. It will. Yeah, I pretty much got a PhD in healing my child and went back to school for alternative medicine. And I've worked with some of the most amazing doctors just picking their brains over For the past 1415 years, and so I'm like, I'm going to, but how does it get to look, the hardest part was trying to figure out how to lay out this book. I'm like, Well, I want to tell my story, I want to put some guidance in there, I want to put some healing modalities. I had a literary coach at the time, who told me how much you lay it out in three parts. So in the first part, I tell my story, and it's a story of inspiration, and hope and, and overcoming those obstacles to get on that path of healing. And then part two is very much a guidance. What do you do if your kid is diagnosed with autism?
Where do you go? Where do you go for an evaluation prior to the age of three? Where do you go after the age of three? What services do you have at in resources? What are some really good organizations that will help guide you? And what are some not so good organizations to donate to some great conferences, good books to read, because you want real information these days, you can't google healing autism and get what I got back in 2008. Nine. Today, you have to read books, it's very important. So I gives them different books that I personally read that were of great assistance for me. And then the third part is all about the different healing modalities that I had experienced in Yoast. Now. Is there so many more? Yes, the sky's the limit. I have so many people reaching out to me, since you know, my book has come out, oh, well, I have this type of treatment.
Let's have this meeting. And, and I'm like, wow, so I'm blown away by all the the new studies and information. I always say in regards to some really good research, children's health defense has been amazing source of information. So it's written in three parts. And I close it off with you know, you can be three types of parent. And one is you can be that warrior mom, or dad, I do not discount dads, because I couldn't have done this alone. And you can go the distance traveled far and wide. Do whatever you have to do break all the rules, and make sure that you cover everything. I always say they're like, What did you do for No, I said, I threw everything at that kid with the kitchen sink. And he responded really? Well. The second type of parent is the parent who is like, Okay, I'm going to be compliant. I'm going to do what my doctor says. And you know, cuz pediatricians always right, maybe I'll remove gluten this day. And, you know, do this the next day, and oh, look into that.
So there's your compliant parent. And then you have the victims the world. What was me? My kids got autism feel sorry for me. You know, because nothing's working. Nothing's this. And I'm like, Well, of course, nothing's working. I mean, do you listen to yourself. So I don't hold back. I'm very much I will be happy to coach somebody and guide them through the process. I do say that everything I needed to know. Back then, I put in this book like this is a labor of love for sure. It is currently the ebooks out but the book is released on April 4, I wanted it to come out Autism Awareness Month. So it comes out in just a very short couple of weeks. But you can preorder it wherever books are sold, you know, I do have a publishing company. So it is on almost every platform that's out there. Or if you want a signed author copy, you can go to warrior mom.org. That's my website for the book.
And you can order a signed author copy and I put that in the mail and get it out. But it's been such a beautiful journey. I've worked with some and got to meet some of the most amazing doctors, Dr. Robert Malone, Dr. Peter McCullough AG. You know, it's been endorsed by Dr. Jerry card Snell and Bobby Kennedy, Dr. Judy Markovitz. So many JB Hanley, who used to run generation rescue back in the day. It's great Dell big tree, I get to be on the highway or which was really cool. It's such a joy to me. And then I was I guess I was worried at some point that I might get some kickback. But the feedback has been mostly from those on the spectrum. And I'm going to assume those on the spectrum that haven't read my book because I have a very dear friend and she is very autistic. And I'm Like here, I want you to read my manuscript. And I want you to give me honest feedback because this woman knows nothing but to be honest, and I love it.
And she's like, wow, I realize that there are so many of these things that resonate with me, and that I could actually do for my own healing, right? Because as I healed my son, I didn't just heal my son, I did this for myself, and a lot of my stuff that I was plagued with, surgical way. So I started to feel better health wise, but I love the feedback, because a lot of it, even my own son was like, you know, when you say, a mother's journey, and healing your son with autism, somebody might think, Oh, you changed me or you tried to cure me, or I don't use cure or changed in my book, my son is still the beautiful, amazing individual that he has always been. He's just higher functioning. So before he was lower functioning, he couldn't function he couldn't speak, he lost motor skills, you know, a lot of cognitive functions, or a lot of that came back now just every child respond the way my son did, no, unfortunately, not. The earlier the intervention, the better, a really small window. But even as they become adults, there's still so much out there that you can do for, for your children or for yourself if you have autism.
Chad Ratliffe 26:28
Wow. So first of all, congratulations on such amazing feats. And whether you know this or not, you know, you have the light, you're carrying the light, and we're lucky to have you on our show. And listeners are lucky to be learning from you today, because you can feel it. So for the parent that's out there that's been playing the victim that's been telling the story and getting that feedback, because you can tell a victim story within this for that parent that's tired and doesn't want to live that way anymore. What kind of first step? Because it's like there's so like you said, there's so many things that you can do ways you can do it. What's the first step that somebody can take on this new on a new path?
Tracy 27:17
I think Dr. Wayne Dyer said it perfectly when he said change your thoughts change your life, right? If you truly change what's up here, and then you move into here, and then I leave the rest up to God, but God doesn't do it for you, it's a matter of really getting out of your head, you know, this is the ego mind, this is the ego mind saying this is hard work. And I can't do this. And, you know, so I really love how you started the show with a meditation. So ground yourself, meditate meditating is one of the number one ways of grounding yourself in, we just can't do it enough. You know, your brain has, what is it 60 to 70,000 thoughts a day, that exactly are through your mind. And if you just give it a break, and it's okay, if you close your eyes and, and those thoughts, you know, come creeping in, just say thank you, and let them go. And then, you know, breathe through it, you can focus on your heart center, I say meditation is a really, really big part of of grounding yourself. But you have to believe the number one thing that you have to do is you have to truly believe that your child can heal. That's half the battle, because where your mind goes, energy flows. And so a lot of times we have to get over our ego mind to be successful.
28:51
Yeah,
Chad Ratliffe 28:53
I've been studying lately, Michael singer who wrote the Untethered Soul and, and he says, I wouldn't believe that voice in my head. if my life depended on it. Right? Right. Anyway, I'm getting a lot from learning from him lately. So you're a health coach, do you work with people individually? Are you teaching them what you're taught in the book, tell us what you're doing.
Tracy 29:18
So I work with just about anybody I've worked with people who have health issues. So we'll go through we'll find out. I always say before they come to see me, or even after our consultation, you know, get a baseline, go see your doctor or functional medicine doctor, whomever it might be and get your baseline, find out what your bloodwork is saying, and then we can address those issues. But I do work a lot with kids on the spectrum. So a lot of parents will come to me especially now and asked me what to do, where to go, how to start. Now. It's not a sales pitch, but that's why I wrote my book. So I didn't have to constantly repeat myself, it's a very affordable way to come in, you could pay me to coach you through what it is that I wrote in the book. But I always say the best thing is to do is to purchase it, read it, I purchase a lot of books. When my son was diagnosed with autism, I literally you didn't see me for a period of time, my husband said My face was always in a book, I was at a conference, I was at a parent, ghetto group meeting or something, just learning be a sponge, and just take it all in. But really, I mean, verbatim, I laid it out as to what you can do and how you can do it. In my book.
Chad Ratliffe 30:47
I'm excited to check it out. Is nutrition.
Tracy 30:51
The big piece? Yes. So everyone's like, what's the number one thing that helped Noah on his journey? And I say, diet, hands down. Number one, the first thing we tried was diet. And I remember my my pediatrician telling me, oh, that biomedical intervention stuff doesn't work. And I said, well, that's kind of funny, because it's working really well. And, you know, I just guessed that you're, you're just not the right pediatrician for me, or my son. So you really have to trust your intuition. So people think that God doesn't speak to us. And God speaks to us in all different ways, our gut feelings or intuition, you know, those little thoughts that just kind of creep into our mind. You know, don't underestimate that, that power of receiving that message, however it may be. And
Chad Ratliffe 31:48
I agree, I agree. And I like that you call out the compliant person, because your pediatrician doesn't know everything. And it's amazing what I hear on the show about people listening to their pediatrician, not you know, that, they're being told that it's just a delay, and they're sitting around waiting for this delay to be over, because their pediatrician told them that and it's like, you know, you can feel it that you know, that I can see that, you know, so I like that you encourage people to follow their, their intuition. So what's your plan, what's the plan to get the book out to the world so we can all start to heal ourselves and our kids.
Tracy 32:31
So it's already available, wherever books are sold, you can go through like Barnes and Noble Amazon, wherever. And April 4, the actual paperback is released. So it's only a couple of weeks away. If you really want a signed author copy, you can get that right now. I mean, I, when people go to warrior mom.org, there's a book tab and it gives you all the different like some of the sites where you can order the ebook and the book. And then towards the bottom, you can order assigned author copy, and it takes me about a week to you know, for that person to get it because it does go medium owl. So either way, it's it really depends on you know what you want, but the books coming out April 4, and I'm super excited about it. I have so many people with such wonderful feedback. I can't wait to get your book and read it. And it's like, it's a bundle of nerves. They've been waiting so long. I actually I finished it in September.
But it's just a it's a process of you know, going through this, but it was about a year it took me to to get all that and just so I can go back a little bit on doctors, so doctors only get they only take one nutrition class and all their like 10 years schooling and that crazy. And so, and then even dietitians, so I've had clients that have come to me while my dietician told me to drink Diet Coke and, and I'm like Thai Coke, really. So do you know fake sugars your body doesn't know the difference between real sugar and fake sugar. Stevia is a great option. But you know fake sugars, I always say if you really like your sugar, honey, and organic maple syrup. And stevia was really kind of where I keep it or dates. When you really run out a little like sweet something, you can have a date.
Chad Ratliffe 34:32
So we're gonna order the book. If somebody says I just need more support than that, how do they find you
Tracy 34:39
info at or your mom.org is how you can get a hold of me so I I check my emails daily. I get back to people as quickly as I can. And you know, I'm happy to respond. I do ask that they they read through the books and then they write down their questions so we can we can address doesn't go over them. And then, you know, everybody, at least one free consultation.
Chad Ratliffe 35:06
That's awesome. I'm excited. And I'm so grateful that you came to share your story. And you know, let us know about the book, let's just say to that parent that's out there that wants something different in their life, and they just don't believe that, you know, God's knows where they are. What do you say to them in closing,
Tracy 35:27
you know, don't ever underestimate God, God always knows. And God always has your best interest, even through hard times. So you can look at, you know, something that you're faced with as an obstacle, or an opportunity. So, I guess I was the person who looked at it as an opportunity to heal my child, and then eventually, where I am today, you know, as my ebook released, it became an Amazon bestseller in the first week. And so now I'm a best selling author of a book that will help parents.
And that's truly what my goal is. So if you have a pure intention to do something, and I always say a really good book, is the power of intention by Dr. Wayne Dyer. To me, I've read that book so many times, and it very, is, it's very clear that you know, you set that intention to do something, and you know, just trust that God has your back. He's kind of busy. But, you know, that's why he's got angels that come your way, or you just have to believe it.

Awesome. So parents out there, it's worry your mom. Thank you, Tracy, you inspired me. I know you inspired the other listeners. And hopefully, we'll all take that first inspirational step and get your book and learn what you have to share with us. So thanks for taking the time today. And I wish you and your book launch all the best.

This concludes our show for today. And I'd like to personally thank you for spending the time with us on a topic near and dear to our hearts. If you'd like to be part of the naked parent nation, and help us reach those parents that are struggling and overwhelmed, there's no better way to help them by subscribing rating and reviewing the show on iTunes. iTunes highlights the shows based on these metrics. And the more the show gets highlighted, the more opportunities people will have to be introduced to the show where they can hear that message of hope, or that tip that can change everything. So follow the link in our show notes. And we hope to have you back here tomorrow where we'll do it again. From the team here at the naked parent podcast we wish you the life you've always dreamed of and then some so long
